UHS State Meet Records
UHS State Meet Highlights
UHS Girls have won the WV State Championship 8 times and come in Runners-Up 8 times. UHS Boys have won the State title 8 times and taken the number two spot twice.
Individually, UHS Girls have been the State Champion three times and UHS Boys have claimed the title seven times. Two athletes, Amelia Paladino (2010, 2012) and Seth Edwards (2014, 2015), claimed the title twice, and Josh Edwards (2019, 2020, 2021) won the title three times.
The first West Virginia State Cross Country Championship (Boys' teams only) was held in 1958. Roger Meador of Charleston High School claimed the individual title and the Dunbar High School Boys' Team were the team champions. In 1980 the first girls (individuals) participated in the state meet. Cindy Campbell of Huntington East High School was the champion. In 1982, girls teams were added to the state meet. Parkersburg High School girls team was the first girls team champion.
